Description
A set of six dining chairs, model 124, designed by Helena and Jerzy Kurmanowicz and manufactured by Radomszczańskie Zakłady Przemysłu Drzewnego in the 1950s. In 1959, this design won first prize in a competition organized by PAGED (Polish Wood Export Agency). Known as “hearts,” these dining chairs are distinguished by their heart-shaped backrests, crafted from bent plywood. The craftsmanship of model 124 highlights a consistent use of advanced bending techniques, with each wooden component, including the ring supporting the seat, made from a single bent piece. The bent legs further enhance the cohesive aesthetic of the “hearts” design. The seats and backrests are upholstered in brown, orange, grey mix boucle fabric. Although the chairs are part of a single set, slight variations in leg width or bend curvature from the manufacturing process lend a unique character to each piece.
